Drawing status codes and stamps

The status on a drawing tells everyone what they can do with it. Build from a drawing that is only "suitable for information" and the cost of putting it right is yours.

UK status codes (ISO 19650)

Most UK projects now use the status codes from the UK National Annex to BS EN ISO 19650-2:

CodeMeaningBuild from it?
S0Initial status, work in progressNo
S1Suitable for coordinationNo
S2Suitable for informationNo
S3Suitable for review and commentNo
S4Suitable for stage approvalNo
A1, A2…Authorised and acceptedYes, when the contract says so
B1, B2…Partial sign-off, with commentsOnly the parts not commented on, if agreed
CRAs constructed recordRecord only

Revisions go with the status: P01, P02 for preliminary issues, C01, C02 for contractual ones. Older and smaller jobs often just write the purpose on the sheet: "For construction", "Preliminary", "For tender", "Superseded".

Stamping a printed set

When drawings come in without a clear status, or you're handing out copies on site, a stamp on every sheet saves arguments later.

  1. Add the set to batchprint.co.uk.
  2. Under More options, pick a stamp: For construction, Preliminary, For information, For approval, For tender, For comment, As built, Superseded or Not for construction. Or type your own words, such as "Issued to site".
  3. Add today's date and "Copy 1 of 3" numbering if you're tracking who has which copy.

The stamp is added to the printed copy only. Your original files are never changed.
